You have been told that the dog has anxiety and is nervous with strangers but typically warms up quickly. The lead walker on Missy’s team was supposed to meet you at the house to introduce you, but she had an emergency come up and asked you to meet the dog on your own. You are given the lock box code to get into the home. When you enter, Missy comes running, but when she sees that you are not her regular walker, she reacts. Missy backs up, pulls her ears back, barks loudly and her hackles are raised. As you take a step closer, she takes a step back, lowers her head and begins to wag her tail which is raised very high. Her body is tense and it is clear that she is uncomfortable in the situation.
